Beloit, WI -- It was a good news, bad news day for the Beloit College Softball team in their doubleheader loss at UW-Platteville on Wednesday.

The bad news was obviously the 6-1 and 8-1 losses by the Buccaneers.

The good news was threefold.  McKenzie Falker and Emily Dorjath both hit their first career home runs.  And Katy Sandt became the all-time leader in strikeouts at Beloit College.

First Sandt.  She broke the record in the bottom of the fifth of the opener with her 403rd strikeout, surpassing the mark previously held by Dani Meehan, who pitched for the  Bucs from 2003-06.  Sandt finished the game with eight strikeouts and now has 404 for her career with at least 15 games left.

In game one, the Pioneers plated a run in the first before Falker tied it up in the fourth with a home run to left.  But UWP scored two in the fifth and three in the sixth for the win.

In the second game, UW-Platteville again jumped on top early, scoring three times in the first.  Dorjath got one of those runs back in the second with her long fly to center but the Pioneers added one in the third and three in the fifth before closing out the scoring with a solo run in the sixth.

Dorjath finish the game with two hits.

The Buccaneers open Midwest Conference play on Saturday when they host St. Norbert College in a doubleheader at the Strong Complex Softball Field.  First pitch is at 1:00 p.m.
