Kissimmee, FL -- The Beloit College Softball team finished up their Spring Trip on Friday with a pair of losses, falling 7-1 to Albion College of Michigan and 5-2 to the College of St. Benedict out of Minnesota.
Against Albion, the Britons scored three times in the bottom of the first to take control early. They added single runs in the second, fourth, fifth and sixth.
The Buccaneers scored their lone run in the top of the sixth when pinch-hitter McKenzie Falker reached on a fielder's choice, scoring Tara Grode, who had reached on an error.
Kandace Fox had two hits to lead the Bucs.
In the game with St. Benedict, the Blazers broke up a scoreless game with three runs in the top of the fourth, two of them unearned. They added two insurance runs in the seventh inning.
The Bucs tried to rally back in the bottom of the seventh, putting together three hits to score twice. Emily Dorjath had the big hit with a two-run double that plated Laura Byrne and Falker, who had both singled. But a double play ended the rally and the trip for Beloit.
The Buccaneers open the Northern portion of their schedule on Thursday, March 15, when they host Wheaton College for two games at the Strong Complex Softball Field. Game one begins at 3:00 p.m.
