Beloit, WI -- The Beloit College Softball team dropped a pair of games to St. Norbert College as both teams opened Midwest Conference play on Saturday afternoon.
SNC won game one 5-2 and game two 16-3.
In game one the Green Knights tallied single runs in each of the first four innings before the Bucs cut the lead in half in the bottom of the fourth.
Lisa McClure singled in Tess Jacquez, who had singled, with one out and then Sarah Stariha hit a run-scoring single with two out to score Kourtney Kingslien, who had walked.
SNC added a run in the sixth on a solo home run to close out the scoring while the Buccaneers were retired in order in the final three innings.
In game two St. Norbert took control right away, scoring seven runs in the opening inning and adding two more in the second.
The Green Knights made it 15-0 with six more runs in the fourth before Beloit got on the board in the bottom of the inning with an RBI double from Kingslien.
St. Norbert added an unearned run in the top of the fifth to close out their scoring. The Bucs scored twice in the bottom of five, with Laura Byrne hitting a run-scoring triple and McKenzie Falker following with a single to score Byrne.
Stariha finished with three hits in game two while Byrne, Falker and Kingslien each had two.
After a busy week, the Buccaneers now have some time off before getting back on the field at the MWC Classic at Dawson Park in Janesville. Beloit opens play at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday against Monmouth College in the first of three games that day. They play two more on Sunday starting at 10:00 a.m.
