Kissimmee, FL -- The Beloit College Softball team, playing with a squad of nine all week, closed out a learning experience of a Spring Trip with a pair of defeats on Saturday, falling to Chatham University 9-5 and Aurora University 6-0.
Against Chatham the Bucs gave up three first-inning runs but, as has been the case all week, fought back in the bottom of the inning with two scores on an RBI single by Katy Sandt and a bases-loaded walk by Kourtney Kingslien.
The Cougars added a run in the third but the Buccaneers tied it at 4-all in the bottom of the third with a pair of runs. Laura Byrne and Lisa McClure had back-to-back run-scoring singles with two out to even it up.
Chatham scored twice in the fourth to grab the lead for good and added three in the fifth. Beloit scored their final run in the fifth on a run-scoring single by McKenzie Falker.
Sandt finished the game 2-2.
In the final game of the trip the Bucs came up against a great pitcher and were shut down in the no-hitter. A second-inning walk to Kingslien and a third-inning free pass to Byrne were the only base runners Beloit got.
The Buccaneers now have over two weeks off before getting back on the field for their home opener on Wednesday, March 24, against Wheaton College in a doubleheader at the Strong Complex Softball Field. First pitch is at 3:00 p.m.
