De Pere, WI -- The Beloit College Softball team saw their postseason hopes disappear on Saturday with a doubleheader loss at St. Norbert College to finish up their Midwest Conference schedule, falling 8-1 and 11-6.
In game one all but one of the Green Knights runs were unearned. SNC scored twice in the second and three times in the third to take control early. They added a single run in the fourth before Beloit got on the board with an unearned run in the top of the fifth when Mikayla Martin scored on an error. St. Norbert then closed out the scoring with two in the sixth.
In the second game the Buccaneers plated two in the second inning when Kandace Fox homered and Jordyn Ciochon singled in Emily Dorjath. But St. Norbert tied it with two unearned runs in the bottom of the inning before taking a 3-2 lead in the third with another unearned tally. SNC added runs in the fourth and fifth to increase their lead to 5-2 before the Bucs re-took the lead with four in the top of the sixth on Dorjath's grand slam, her fourth home run of the season. But the Green Knights answered in the bottom of the sixth with six runs to take control of the game and close out the scoring.
Fox, Dorjath and Megan Salm each had two hits in the game.
Beloit closes out its 2013 season on Monday with a non-conference doubleheader at the University of Chicago. Game time is 3:00 p.m.
