Grand Rapids, MI -- The Beloit College Men's Lacrosse team took control of their game at Calvin College Saturday in the first quarter and then held off any challenges for a 16-8 victory.

Jacob Pritscher got things started in the first quarter, assisted by Liam O'Connor and Aidan Whinnery, respectively, before the Knights got on the board to make it 2-1.  O'Connor and Ryan Hazuka then scored goals in a 32-second span to put Beloit up 4-1 after one.  The Bucs had the only two scores of the second quarter on Jack Jenkins' goal at 9:58, assisted by Whinnery, and Whinnery's goal at 3:20, assisted by O'Connor, to make it 6-1 at the break.

Calvin made a run out of halftime with three straight goals before Whinnery, assisted by Pritscher, stopped the run at the 6:30 mark.  After CC scored their fourth goal of the period at 5:29 to pull within 7-5 Thomas Porkka made it 8-5 at 4:16 and O'Connor made it 9-5 on the man advantage, assisted by Hazuka.  Calvin scored a fifth goal in the period to make it 9-6 heading into the fourth.

Whinnery scored his third goal of the game 30 seconds into the fourth but Calvin answered less than two minutes later to keep it a three-goal game.  The Bucs then put it away with six straight goals - by Porkka, Jenkins, O'Connor, Hazuka twice, and Whinnery - to make it 16-7.  The Knights closed out the scoring with 1:46 remaining.

Trevor Kenahan made eight saves in net for the win.

Beloit has a week off before getting back on the field next Saturday when they host Defiance College at Strong Stadium.  Faceoff is at 1:00 p.m.
