Ripon, WI – James Lazarcik, a 6’5 junior forward from La Crescent, Minnesota, has been named to the All-Midwest Conference Men’s Basketball First Team.  The Conference Office released the 2012-13 team today.

Steve McAfee, Jr., a 6’5 freshman guard/forward from Chicago, Illinois, was named Honorable Mention.

Named a Second Team Academic All-American last week, Lazarcik had 13 double-doubles on the season, with highs of 30 points at Knox College on December 8 and 16 rebounds vs. Wisconsin Lutheran College on January 7.  He scored in double figures in 21 of the team’s 23 games and had double figures in rebounding in 14 games.

McAfee was second on the team in both scoring (13.5) and rebounding (5.0) in his first collegiate season.  He led or shared game scoring honors in seven games, with four games over 20 points and a high of 30 against Grinnell College on February 2 in Flood Arena.  He also led the team in steals (0.9) and led the team with 24 three-pointers.

The Buccaneers finished the 2012-13 season 12-11 overall, 10-8 in the MWC.  Their 12 victories were the most since the 2001-02 season while their 10 wins in Conference play were the most since the 1992-93 season.  Only one player was lost to graduation heading into the 2013-14 season.
