Newman Steps Down as Beloit Head Women's Lacrosse Coach, Accepts Head Position at Augustana

August 27, 2014 at 2:30 pm

Newman ActionBeloit, WI -- Meredith Newman, the head Women's Lacrosse at Beloit College for its two-year existence, has stepped down from her position to accept the head coach job at Augustana College in Rock Island, Illinois.

She replaces Sara Tisdale at Augustana, who accepted the heading coaching position at Central Michigan University.

"Meredith will always be the first head Women's Lacrosse coach at Beloit College," said Director of Athletic and Recreation Peggy Carl.  "That's an important place in the athletic history of the school."

Newman led the Buccaneers to a 4-7 record in the 2013 inaugural season of the sport at Beloit and improved that mark to 10-7 during the 2014 season, narrowly missing a spot in the Midwest Women's Lacrosse Conference Tournament.

A search for her replacement at Beloit College is underway.
