April 9, 2014 at 10:50 pm

Dubuque, IA -- The Beloit College Men's Lacrosse team was obviously hungry for a win after dropping their last two games.  That hunger was satisfied, and then some, in a 31-4 win at the University of Dubuque on Wednesday night.

Beloit jumped to a 7-1 lead in the first period, scoring the first six goals before the Spartans got on the board.  Matt Kelly had three goals and Aidan Whinnery two to get things off on the right foot.

The Bucs shut down UD in the second quarter while tacking on eight goals to build a 15-1 halftime lead.  Whinnery had three goals and Kelly and Liam O'Connor two each in the quarter.

The third period saw Dubuque score three times but Beloit added eight more to their total.  Whinnery and Jacob Pritcher each had two goals, as did Luke Bankord, who scored the first two goals of his career.  Rikley Buckingham also scored his first career goal in the period.

The Buccaneers finished it up with eight unanswered goals in the fourth.  Austin Hyatt got in the act with three in the period with Bankord and O'Connor both adding two more.  Jack Jenkins also scored his first goal of the season.

Whinnery finished with seven goals and two assists while O'Connor had six goals and three assists and Kelly five goals and three assists.  Pritcher had three goals and five assists and Bankord four scores.

Trevor Kenahan played the opening half, making three saves, while Jace Hodder played the third quarter with no saves and Tommy Otis the fourth with one save.

Beloit has a week before playing at Milwaukee School of Engineering next Wednesday night.  Faceoff is at 7:30 p.m.
