Auburndale, FL -- The Beloit College Baseball team completed their annual Spring Trip with a second straight doubleheader sweep, topping Alfred State College of New York 12-5 and 3-1 on Saturday to finish the week 6-2.
Patrick McKnight threw a complete game to seal the team's fourth straight win, allowing one unearned run on three hits. He struck out a career-best 11 and walked one while not allowing a hit past the second inning.
The Bucs got all the offense they'd need in the second with two unearned runs. Adrian Peil drove in both with a two-out single. The third run crossed in the third on Tyler Peacock's sacrifice fly to right, scoring Alex Lawrence.
Peil, Lawrence and Mike Gulve all had a pair of hits in the game.
In the opener Beloit got a run in the top of the first on Austin Martinez's single and then added six in the second inning to take control. The big hit of the inning was Danny Corral's two-run, two-out single. Peil, Ethan Blumenthal and Lawrence also had RBI's in the inning.
After the Pioneers got on the board with two in the third Sean Little drove in Jeff Parrott for an unearned run in the top of four. But ASC came fighting back and pulled to within 8-4 in the bottom of the inning. The Buccaneers put the game away with four runs in the fifth. Corral had a two-run double while Parrott had an RBI single in the inning. Alfred State closed out the scoring with an unearned run in the sixth.
Corral finished with three hits while Lawrence had two.
Beloit returns home and has a week before hosting Wisconsin Lutheran College at The Ballpark at Strong Stadium for a doubleheader next Saturday at 12:00 noon.
