St. Louis, MO -- The Beloit College Men's Lacrosse team had to endure an early-morning departure to get away from the frigid temperatures, but it didn't show when game-time came. The Bucs took control early in a 17-7 win at Fontbonne University on Wednesday afternoon.
Beloit scored the first six goals of the game - two each by Jacob Pritcher and Aidan Whinnery and one apiece from Tommy Porkka and Liam O'Connor - before the Griffins finally got on the board in the last two minutes of the period to make it 6-1 after one.
Fontbonne got three scores in the second period to get themselves back in the game, though Pritcher scored his third goal of the half and Porkka his second to make it an 8-4 game at the half.
The Buccaneers put things out of reach with a six-goal third period while holding FU to one score. Pritcher and Whinnery both scored twice, giving Pritcher five for the game and Whinnery four, while Matt Kelly and Austin Hyatt both added scores.
Beloit closed things out with three goals in the final period while the Griffins scored a pair. After Fontbonne opened the period with back-to-back scores, Kelly scored his second of the game, Pritcher his sixth and Xavier Ward finished it up.
Trevor Kenahan made seven saves in net for the win, with Tommy Otis finishing up the game.
Beloit is now off until next Wednesday when they host Benedictine University at Strong Stadium. Game time is at 7:00 p.m.
