Steve McAfeeBeloit, WI -- The Beloit College Men's Basketball team's start to Wednesday's Midwest Conference game with Lake Forest College looked like it was going to be a romp.  They ended up holding off the Forests for a 69-60 victory in Flood Arena.

Beloit scored the first nine points of the game and 20 of the first 22 for an 18-point lead eight minutes in.  But the Foresters went on a 13-0 run over the next six minutes to climb right back in.  LFC pulled within two at 26-24 with 2:03 left in the half but the Buccaneers held strong for a 30-26 advantage at the break.

Lake Forest got within one in the first 15 seconds of the second half before the Bucs regained control with a prolonged 26-10 run that put them up 56-39 with 8:37 left.  LFC never got closer than nine the rest of the way.

After starting hot and going cold in the first half, Beloit shot 53.3% for the game, including 66.7% in the second half while holding Lake Forest to 40% shooting for the game.

James Lazarcik finished with 21 points and eight rebounds while Steve McAfee had 16 and 10 with four assists and Tyler Butke added 10 points.  Rudy Bentley dished out five assists to go with his seven points.  Chris Bremner came off the bench for eight points.

The Buccaneers look to keep the momentum as they go back on the road, playing at Grinnell College on Saturday afternoon.  Tipoff is at 1:00 p.m.
