Mount Vernon, IA -- The Beloit College Women's Basketball team dropped behind early and fell 77-52 in a Midwest Conference game at Cornell College Saturday afternoon.
The Rams were up 13-3 midway through the first half and never looked back. They made sure of a comfortable lead with a 10-2 run in the last 2:35 of the half to go into the lockerroom up 39-17.
CC's lead was in the 20's for most of the second half until Beloit pulled to within 17 with an 11-0 run, capped by a Lauren McNanna three-pointer with 4:12 left. But Cornell closed the game with a 13-5 run to wrap it up.
The Bucs shot just 28.6% for the game, including 15% in the opening half, while Cornell shot 50.8% for the game, 64% in the second half.
McNanna led the Buccaneers with 10 points, moving her into 13th place on the Beloit Women's Basketball career scoring list, while Jenna Larsen and Laura Panicali each had nine. Lana Wieseman and Nora Polaski each added eight.
Beloit returns to Flood Arena on Wednesday night when they host Lake Forest College. Tipoff is at 7:30 p.m.
