De Pere, WI -- The Beloit College Football team dropped a 52-17 decision at Midwest Conference-leading St. Norbert College on Saturday afternoon.
The Green Knights scored the first three TDs of the game over a four-minute span of the opening quarter to jump up 21-0. Beloit got on the board in the final seconds of the quarter when Evan Phillips hit Luke McLeran on a 10-yard scoring pass to cap a nine-play drive.
Kam Sallee got the Bucs within 21-10 early in the second quarter on a 36-yard field goal but SNC answered with a 40-yard scoring run a minute later and then a field goal to lead 31-10 at the break.
St. Norbert made it 45-10 heading into the fourth quarter with a pair of third-quarter touchdowns. Sallee whittled into the lead with a 20-yard scoring run at the 6:05 mark of the fourth before the Green Knights closed out the scoring in the final minute.
SNC won the yardage battle 475-279. Mason Dixon rushed 28 times for 107 yards, his seventh 100-yard game of the season. Phillips finished 12-24 passing for 125 yards, with McLeran catching five passes and Michael Nolden four. Salee also averaged 41.0 on four punts.
Kevin Aofia made eight tackles, seven solo, to lead the defense, also intercepting a pass. Tyler Coleman had five tackles and added an interception. Alan Ham and Riley Pearson each recorded sacks.
The Buccaneers close out their 2013 season next Saturday at Strong Stadium when they host Carroll University at 1:00 p.m. It'll be Senior Day for the Bucs, with the ten Beloit Football seniors being recognized prior to their final game.
