Brian BlieseWaukesha, WI --Beloit College Cross Country Coordinator and Head Track & Field Coach Brian Bliese was inducted into the Carroll University Athletic Hall of Fame this past weekend, recognizing his long service there prior to moving to Beloit.

Bliese coached at Carroll for 15 years, from 1985-2000. He was the head men’s and women’s track and field coach, cross country coordinator and offensive coordinator for the Pioneers football team.

Bliese was part of nine conference championships for Carroll — three in men’s track and field, two in women’s track and field, two in women’s cross country and two in football.

In cross country, he coached three individual conference champions, more than 50 all-conference honorees, two national qualifiers and one all-American.

In track, he guided his student-athletes to more than 100 individual conference titles, more than 300 all-conference honors, more than 50 national qualifications and eight all-American performances, including three by Marni Lynn Wiggins, a two-time national champion.

Before Carroll, he coached track and football at Carthage College and coached football, women’s volleyball, basketball and softball at his alma mater, Milton College. He also was the women’s athletic director at Milton.

Bliese graduated from Milton College in 1976 after a successful career as a quarterback. During his senior season, Bliese led Milton to an undefeated and untied season, the only collegiate school in the nation to accomplish that feat in 1975.

Over the past 20-plus years, Bliese has coached over 30 All-Americans in Track & Field, including four National Champions.
