Beloit, WI/Lake Forest, IL -- The Beloit College Women's Soccer team had another demanding weekend with back-to-back matches, coming from behind to tie Lawrence University 2-2 in overtime on Saturday in Beloit before falling 7-0 at Lake Forest College on Sunday.
In Saturday's match LU struck first with a penalty kick goal at 25:12. Enid Gongora, assisted by Kirsten Takaki, evened it up at 1-all 5:31 before halftime but the Vikings got a goal with 24 seconds left to take a 2-1 lead at the break. It stayed that way until Felicia Carlson scored unassisted at the 68:40 mark to tie it up again and force the extra time. In overtime Lawrence had five shots, three on goal, and the Bucs three, all on goal, but none hit the back of the net.
Alex Spirov made 19 saves in net for the Bucs.
On Sunday, a tired and short-handed Buccaneer squad couldn't slow down the Foresters, who scored five times in the opening half to take control early.
Spirov made 13 saves in goal, her sixth double-digit save total of the season, putting her over the century mark with 107.
Beloit has a few days off before getting back on the field on Thursday when they host Maranatha Baptist College at 4:00 p.m. at the Strong Complex Soccer Field.
