Beloit, WI -- The Beloit College Women's Lacrosse team had things well in hand in their Midwest Women's Lacrosse Conference game against Mt. St. Joseph College on Saturday at Strong Stadium until the Lions put together a comeback in the final nine minutes to shock the Bucs 8-7.

MSJ scored the first two goals of the game in the opening three minutes until Sara Fithian got Beloit on the board at 26:50.  The Lions added two more goals to move up 4-1 before the Buccaneers started a streak of six unanswered scores that spanned halftime.  Sarah Pipal started the run at 5:39 of the first half, assisted by Cate Rubin, and was followed by Fithian's second goal of the game at 3:24 to make it 4-3, Mt. St. Joseph, at the half.

The Bucs continued their run as the second half started when Caitlin Paterson, assisted by Ellie Daniels, scored at 27:57 to tie the game at 4-all.  Fithian put Beloit up a goal at 26:04 on a free position score and Erin Chambers tallied with another free position goal at 14:54 to make it 6-4.  Daniels ended the run and gave the Buccaneers a three-goal lead when she scored on the man advantage, assisted by Fithian, at 12:24.

But the Lions weren't done, scoring four unanswered from the 9:22 mark to the game-winner with 5:49 left to secure the win.

The Buccaneers step away from MWLC play on Wednesday when they host the University of Dubuque at 6:00 p.m. at Strong Stadium.
