Towson, MD – James Lazarcik, a 6’5 junior forward for the Beloit College Men’s Basketball team from La Crescent, Minnesota, has been named to the Second Team on the Capital One Academic All-America Team, selected by the College Sports Information Director of America (CoSIDA).
To be eligible for Academic All-American consideration a student athlete must be a varsity starter or key reserve, maintain a cumulative GPA of 3.30, have reached sophomore athletic and academic standing and be nominated by the institution’s Sports Information Director. Only First Team Academic All-District selections are eligible for Academic All-American honors.
Lazarcik, a Chemistry/Pre-Med major, carries a 3.75 GPA. In the Buccaneers’ just-completed season, he led the team in 13 different categories, including scoring (17.5), rebounding (11.3), field goal percentage (67.7%), free throw percentage (78.5%) and blocked shots (1.3). He leads the conference in rebounding, field goal percentage and double-doubles and ranks fourth in scoring. Nationally he tops NCAA Division III in field goal percentage, is eighth in rebounding and 11th in double-doubles.
The Bucs finished the 2012-13 season with a 12-11 overall record, including 10-8 in Midwest Conference play. Their 12 wins were the most since the 2001-02 season while their ten Conference victories were the most since the 1992-93 season.
