Beloit, WI -- The Beloit College Women's Basketball team has run a gauntlet of nationally ranked teams in their last three games. The most recent was 27th-ranked Monmouth College, who gave the Bucs a 90-73 loss on Saturday afternoon in Flood Arena.
The Fighting Scots started fast and built a 15-3 lead in the first 4:30 of the contest. But the Buccaneers got back in it with a 7-0 two-minute run to trail by just five at the 13:05 mark. Beloit was within 25-21 with 7:30 before halftime when a 13-2 MC run opened the deficit back up. Again the Bucs fought back and closed the half on a 13-5 run to trail 43-36 at the break.
Monmouth put the game away in the first four minutes of the second half, coming out of the lockerroom with a 14-2 run that put Beloit down 57-38. The largest deficit was 26 at 76-50 with 8:28 remaining. The Buccaneers kept battling but never got closer than the final score.
Lauren McNanna led four Bucs in double figures with 24 while Lana Wieseman added 14 and Maddie Sychta 12. Kandace Fox finished with ten points, nine rebounds and five assists.
Beloit has a short wait to get back on the court, playing at Ripon College on Tuesday night. Tipoff is at 5:00 p.m.
