Beloit, WI -- The Beloit College Women's Basketball team couldn't keep up with 23rd-ranked Carthage College on Tuesday night in an 85-55 loss in Flood Arena, which finished up a season-opening three-game homestand.
After a 4-4 tie less than two minutes into the game the Lady Reds went on a 12-2 four-minute run that gave them a 16-6 lead and they never looked back. The Bucs got within seven at 18-11 at the 13:06 mark on a Lauren McNanna three-pointer but that was as close as they'd get the remainder of the contest. Carthage led 40-24 at the break before stretching their advantage to 54-34 with 16:31 remaining. Their biggest lead was 39 points at 83-44 with 5:45 left before Beloit closed out the game on an 11-2 run for the final score.
Kandace Fox had 16 points to lead the Buccaneers while McNanna added 12. Lana Wieseman had eight and both Claire Bush and Maddie Sychta scored six. Sychta had a team-high six rebounds.
After a busy opening week of the season Beloit has some time off before opening Midwest Conference play on November 28 at St. Norbert College. Tipoff is at 5:00 p.m.
