Beloit, WI -- The Beloit College Men's Soccer team had some valuable Midwest Conference Soccer standing points stolen from them on Saturday afternoon at the Strong Complex Soccer Field in a 2-2 overtime tie with Grinnell College.
Grinnell opened the scoring at 16:02 of the opening half but Tom Slusher evened it up off an assist from Ryan Munger one minute later.
The teams battled through the next 61 minutes before Duncan Gillis converted a pass from Slusher at 78:22 to give them a 2-1 lead.
The lead looked like it would hold until GC converted a corner kick with 1:23 left in regulation to knot it at 2-all and force extra time.
Neither team had a shot on goal in the first overtime and one apiece in the second ten minutes as they ended with a tie.
A win in the Midwest Conference counts for three points while a tie is one point, an especially notable difference with just one week left before the MWC Tournament teams are set.
Beloit looks to come back on Sunday when they close out their home season against Illinois College. It'll be Senior Day as Kellen Sullivan, Scott Dyke, John Jorgenson and Slusher will play their final home game. Action begins at 1:30 p.m.
