Greencastle, IN -- The Beloit College Men's Lacrosse team spotted Depauw University the first two goals of the game but then got going on the way to a 14-10 win in the season finale on Saturday.
After the Tigers scored at 14:11 and 6:45 of the opening period Tommy Porkka got Beloit on the board at 3:29. Austin Hyatt tied it up at 2:02 and then Aidan Whinnery, on the man advantage, put the Bucs in front 3-2 with 35 seconds left for a 3-2 lead after one.
DU tied it up at 3 just over a minute into the second before the Buccaneers went on another three-goal run to move up 6-3. Liam O'Connor scored back-to-back a minute apart before Whinnery capped the run with another man-up goal at the 6:50 mark. Depauw scored with 1:12 left to make it a 6-4 game at the break.
Jacob Pritscher made it 7-4 three minutes into the third period but the Tigers scored to make it a two-goal game again. The Bucs then got some breathing room with three more goals in succession, coming from Hyatt, Matt Kelly and Hyatt again for a 10-5 lead. DU scored two straight in eight seconds to pull back within three but Pritscher scored his second of the period 50 sends before the horn to make it 11-7 heading to the fourth.
The teams scored three times each in the fourth period, with Beloit getting goals from Pritscher, Whinnery and Rikley Buckingham to hold their advantage.
Whinnery, Pritscher and Hyatt each had three goals, with Whinnery and Hyatt adding an assist. Trevor Kenahan made 15 saves in net.
Beloit finishes the season with three more victories than in their inaugural campaign of 2013.
