Buena Vista, VA -- The Beloit College Men's Lacrosse team had a successful end to their two-game trip through Virginia with a 12-8 win at Southern Virginia University on Thursday.
The Buccaneers seemingly took charge of the game with four goals in the opening period - by Austin Hyatt, Jacob Pritcher, Aidan Whinnery and Liam O'Connor - but SVU came right back with four goals of their own in the second period. The lone goal of the period came from Whinnery that made it a 5-4 lead at the break for the Bucs.
Beloit re-established control with six third-period goals while the Knights scored just twice. Whinnery scored three times in the period while Pritcher, O'Connor and Matt Kelly also chipped in to make it 11-6 entering the fourth.
Pritcher added his third goal of the game for the only Beloit score in the fourth while Southern Virginia scored twice for the final score.
Trevor Kenahan made six saves in net for the win.
The Buccaneers now have a week off before hitting the road on Saturday, March 22, when they play at Olivet College in Michigan.
