Ashland, VA -- The Beloit College Men's Lacrosse team couldn't overcome a big second period by Kenyon College on Tuesday and fell 15-4 in the first of two games this week in Virginia.
Kenyon scored the first two goals of the game before Aidan Whinnery hit the back of the net, assisted by Liam O'Connor, to make it a 2-1 game after one period. But that close game disappeared in the second period when the Lords scored five goals while shutting down the Bucs, making it 7-1 at the half.
KC continued their run to open the second half, scoring three more goals for eight straight, before Whinnery scored his second goal of the game to break the string, assisted by Matt Kelly.
Kenyon kept it going in the fourth and final period, out-scoring the Buccaneers 5-2 for the final score. Zach Carner, assisted by Xavier Ward, and Whinnery with his third goal, unassisted, made up the final scores for Beloit.
The Bucs were out-shot 50-25. Trevor Kenahan made 12 saves in net.
Beloit plays at Southern Virginia University on Thursday at 5:00 ET to complete their trip.
