Midwest Lacrosse Conference logoNaperville, IL -- Beloit College received exciting news yesterday, as administrators learned that the Men’s Lacrosse program will join the Midwest Lacrosse Conference (MLC) for competition in the 2014-15 academic year.

“We are excited to join the Midwest Lacrosse Conference,” said Head Coach Bob Dignazio. “We chose the MLC for a number of reasons, the most significant being the opportunity to compete for the conference’s Automatic Qualifying bid to the NCAA Tournament.”

The winner of the MLC Tournament earns an automatic bid in the NCAA Division III Tournament. The MLC Tournament Champion has advanced to NCAAs in each of the past three seasons. Last spring, 2013 champion Aurora defeated Ohio Wesleyan in the First Round of the NCAA Tournament, before bowing to Cortland in the Second Round.

In addition to hosting its annual postseason Conference Tournament, the Midwest Lacrosse Conference awards annual All-Conference honors, Academic All-Conference honors, and allows its members to play non-traditional scrimmages in the fall against other NCAA programs.

“Currently our focus is on preparing for the 2014 season,” said Dignazio. “We recently ended Fall Ball, and there is a lot to be optimistic about at Beloit. We are focusing on building the right team culture that will become the foundation for our program this season and into the future.”

Beloit opens its 2014 season against Elmhurst College at home on Saturday, February 22. The entire schedule can be found here.  The upcoming 2014 season will be the program’s final year competing as an Independent. In Beloit’s inaugural 2013 season, the Bucs finished with a 6-6 overall record.

The Beloit College Women’s Lacrosse team will continue to compete in the Midwest Women’s Lacrosse Conference.
