Belleville, IL -- The Beloit College Men's Lacrosse team wasn't affected by their first-ever game being pushed back four hours or a change in venues. So a three-goal deficit after three quarters wasn't too much.  But the comeback fell just short as the Buccaneers fell at Fontbonne University 10-8 on Sunday.

After the Griffins scored the first goal of the game midway through the opening quarter the Bucs jumped on top with a pair of goals to lead 2-1 after one.  Jacob Pritscher, assisted by Aidan Whinnery, scored the first goal in Beloit history at 6:04 before Liam O'Connor gave them the lead one second before the end of the quarter.

Beloit added to their lead on Pritscher's second goal of the game, assisted by O'Connor, at 12:43 of the second quarter before Fontbonne scored three unanswered over the  final 9:30 to lead 4-3 at the half.

The Griffins built on their lead with three goals in the third quarter while O'Connor had the only Buc goal, unassisted, at 8:58 on the extra-man advantage.  Fontbonne led 7-4 after three.

The Buccaneers scored three unanswered goals to open the final period to tie it up at 7-all.  Ryan Hazuka got the rally going at 12:33, assisted by Thomas Porkka, before Pritscher completed his hat trick at 8:11 to pull Beloit within one.  Whinnery got the equalizer at 4:55, assisted by Porkka, to set up a run to the end.  But Fontbonne answered with three straight goals over the next three minutes to move back up 10-7 with just over a minute left.  Porkka closed out the scoring with 46 seconds remaining on the extra-man advantage.

Trevor Kenahan made 24 saves in net for Beloit.

The Buccaneers have some time to touch things up before heading on their three-game Spring trip, starting next Sunday at Transylvania University in Lexington, Kentucky.
