Wheaton, IL -- The Beloit College Men's Basketball team saw things come apart in the second half of an 80-62 loss to Buena Vista University in the Consolation Game of the Wheaton College Lee Pfund Classic Saturday.

The opening half was a game of runs.  BVU used an 11-4 run midway through the first half to break open a close game and take a 28-16 lead with 7:25 left in the half.  But Beloit responded with an 8-0 run over the next three minutes to pull within 28-24.  An 8-2 run by the Beavers put them back in front 36-26 at the 2:42 mark before the Bucs closed the half on a 9-2 run to trail 38-35 at the break.

The game remained close through the first six-plus minutes of the second half, with the Buccaneers pulling into a 46-all tie at the 14:35 mark.  But Buena Vista went on a 13-7 run to create some space and followed it with a 7-2 run to go up 11 at 66-55 with 6:58 remaining.

Beloit pulled back to within seven at 68-61 with four minutes left but BVU closed the game on a 12-1 tear to take the win.

Tyler Butke led four Bucs in double figures with 13 points and also grabbed eight rebounds.  Travis Towns and James Lazarcik each added 12 and Michael Horton 10.

Beloit has a short time to regroup as they travel to Lakeland College on Tuesday night for a 7:00 p.m. tip.
