Milwaukee, WI -- The Beloit College Baseball team had their final tune-up before they head into Midwest Conference play this weekend, sweeping Wisconsin Lutheran College 3-0 and 5-0 on Wednesday.
Both games turned into pitcher's duels before the Buccaneers scored late for the wins.
In game one Beloit broke the scoreless tie with a pair of runs in the fourth. Drew Oswald and Evan Mascitti got the RBIs with singles. Jake Tresemer added some insurance with a run-scoring single in the seventh.
Jake Majeski paced the attack with two hits. Dan Edwards, Andrew Edwards and Aaron Bushur combined on the four-hit shutout. Andrew Edwards got the victory while Bushur earned a save.
In game two the Buccaneers busted open another scoreless battle with a five-run outburst in the sixth. Oswald had a run-scoring single, Dan Edwards and Mascitti drew bases-loaded walks and Emory Nelms hit a sacrifice fly. The fifth run of the inning scored on an error.
Grant Henrickson, Dalton Deckert and Mike Kovach pitched the second straight four-hitter, with Deckert earning the win.
The Bucs open MWC play on Saturday at The Ballpark at Strong Stadium with a doubleheader against Lawrence University beginning at 1:00 p.m. They conclude the four-game series with a twinbill in Appleton on Sunday, also beginning at 1:00.
