2014 BFJ Author Wins Spokane Fiction Prize

Serena Crawford, author of “Ocean” in the Spring 2014 issue of the Beloit Fiction Journal, has recently been announced the winner of the 2014 Spokane Prize for Short Fiction for her manuscript, “Here Among Strangers.”

The Spokane Prize for Short Fiction is a contest held by Willow Springs Editions, in collaboration with Lost Horse Press, every year. Writers from different and similar backgrounds enter the contest for a chance to earn a cash prize of $2000 and publication through the Willow Springs Editions. Becky Hagenston, also featured in the Spring 2014 issue of the Beloit Fiction Journal, was the winner of the Spokane Prize for Short Fiction in 2009.

Serena Crawford’s fiction has appeared in Epoch, Ascent, Another Chicago Magazine, The McNeese Review, The Greensboro Review, Nimrod, Other Voices, The Florida Review and elsewhere. She also holds an MFA from the University of Oregon and has been the recipient of fellowships from the National Endowment for the Arts and Literary Arts.
