Hamlin Garland Award for the Short Story 2016

 The Editing Staff at Beloit Fiction Journal is pleased to announce that we are extending the submission period for the Hamlin Garland Award for the Short Story until:

Tuesday-December 8th, 2015

Please note that the postmark deadline for the $2,000 prize that appears on the poster has changed to December 8th rather than December 1st, as previously noted. 

$2,000 and publication will be awarded to the top unpublished story on any theme

Nickolas Butler, author of Shotgun Lovesongs, will judge the contest

A reading fee of $20 must accompany each entry. Checks are payable to Beloit Fiction Journal, or pay entry fee through Submittable.

One story per entry/multiple entries OK. Maximum 7,000 words. All entrants will be considered for publication.

The award may be split at the judge’s discretion. New postmark deadline: Dec. 8, 2015.
