Melinda Moustakis, PEN/O. Henry Prize Strories 2013

Melinda Moustakis - Bear Down Bear NorthMelinda Moustakis’ story “The Last Great Alaskan Lumberjack Show” appeared in Volume 24 of the Beloit Fiction Journal. Bear Down Bear North: Alaska Stories, Melinda’s first book published (University of Georgia Press, 2011), is a collection of linked stories about Alaskan homesteaders. The book won the Flannery O’ Connor Award, the Maurice Prize, The Saroyan Prize for fiction, and was a 5 Under 35 selection by the National Book Foundation. One of the stories from Bear Down Bear North, titled “They Find the Drowned,” appears in the PEN/O. Henry Prize Stories 2013.

Melinda's work has appeared in Alaska Quarterly Review, Kenyon Review, New England Review, Cimarron Review, American Short Fiction, among other publications.
