Madison, WI -- The Beloit College Women's Tennis team finished up their 2015 season on Sunday at the Midwest Conference Singles Tournament at the Nielsen Tennis Stadium. The weekend began Saturday with the MWC Doubles Tournament.
Sunday, Trina Capelli, the #5 seed in the #1 Flight, dropped her opening match to #4 seed Judith Fan of Grinnell College 6-1, 6-4 and then fell to #9 seed Megan Krzewinski of Carroll University in a walkover in the Consolation semifinals.
Sarah Rapp, the #6 seed in the #2 Flight, defeated #11 seed Liddy Wilson of Monmouth College 6-0, 6-1 before falling to #3 seed Lauren Miketinac of Carroll 6-3, 6-1 in her next match.
Alex Kurpiel, the #8 seed in the #3 Flight, defeated Annaliese McDermott of Monmouth 6-3, 7-5 before falling to #1 seed Grace Dowling of Lake Forest College 6-1, 6-0 in her next match.
Alisha Ankin, seeded #11 in the #4 Flight, lost to Shanna Mogden of Carroll 6-1, 6-1 and then fell to #3 seed Anna Gosz of St. Norbert College 8-2 in Consolation play.
Nyasha Nyamhondoro, the #11 seed in the #5 Flight, lost to #6 seed El Goblirsch of Lawrence University 6-0, 6-1 and then dropped an 8-1 match to Miranda Corbett of Knox College 8-1 in the Consolation semifinals.
Allison Vance, the #9 seed in the #6 Flight, lost to #8 seed Celina Dietzel of Knox 6-2, 6-0 and then fell to #5 seed Anne Seng of Cornell College 8-0 in the Consolation semifinals.
Back on Saturday in Doubles play, Capelli and Rapp, the #7 seed in the #1 Flight defeated Maddie VandenHouten and Courtney Olson of Ripon College 8-1 in their first match before falling to #2 seed Christi Valicenti and Grace Dowling of Lake Forest 8-3.
Ankin and Kiri Youngquist, seeded #8 in the #2 Flight, lost to #9 seed Lindsay Holsen and Elana Lambert of Lawrence 8-3 and then fell to Megan Jans and Lily Hamilton of Grinnell 8-1 in the Consolation semifinals.
Kurpiel and Vance, the #11 seed in the #3 Flight, lost to #6 seed Annie Harnicar and Katie Nottberg of Lawrence 8-3 before defeating Brianna Pohlman and Valerie Escudero of Illinois College, the #10 seed, 8-5. They then fell to #4 seed Callie Cook and Morgan Holle of Monmouth 8-1 in the Consolation final.
