Jacksonville, IL -- For the second straight weekend the Beloit College Women's Tennis team finished a three-MWC-matches-in-three-days stretch with a win, topping Illinois College 7-2 on Sunday.
Saturday the Buccaneers fell at Monmouth College 5-4 and at Knox College 6-3.
Sunday Beloit grabbed two of the three Doubles points and were on their way. #1 Trina Capelli/Sarah Rapp and #2 Alex Kurpiel/Kiri Youngquist got the Doubles wins.
The Buccaneers then completed the victory with wins in five of six Singles matches, earning straight set victories from #1 Capelli, #2 Kurpiel, #3 Rapp and #6 Nyasha Nyamhondoro. #4 Youngquist pulled out a three-set win, taking the third set 10-8.
On Saturday at Monmouth, the Fighting Scots had a 2-1 lead after Doubles play, with Capelli/Rapp winning the #1 match, before splitting the Singles matches for the final score. Capelli (#1), Rapp (#2) and Kurpiel (#3) scored the wins.
Later Saturday at Knox, the Prairie Fire took two of the three Doubles matches, again with the win by Capelli and Rapp at #1. In Singles Capelli (#1) and Rapp (#2) were the lone Beloit points, both winning in straight sets.
Beloit has a breather now until playing at Carroll University on October 4.
