Women's Tennis Wins Sunday to Finish Long Road Weekend

Ripon, WI -- The Beloit College Women's Tennis team defeated Ripon College 6-3 on Sunday to finish up a long MWC road swing that saw them go 1-2.

Saturday the Buccaneers fell to St. Norbert College 9-0 in De Pere and then dropped a 6-3 decision at Lawrence University Saturday afternoon in Appleton before Sunday's results.

Against Ripon the #1 Doubles team of Trina Capelli and Alisha Ankin won 8-0 and the #2 team of Sarah Rapp and Kiri Youngquist won 8-2 to put Beloit up 2-1 heading to Singles.  Capelli (#1), Rapp (#2), Alex Kurpiel (#3) and Samantha Kinard (#6) posted Singles victories to secure the match.

At Lawrence on Saturday the #2 Doubles duo of Rapp and Youngquist won 8-2 for the only point before Capelli (#1) and Rapp (#2) earned the Bucs' final two points in Singles.

The Buccaneers have some well-deserved time off this week before another three-match MWC road weekend beginning on Saturday.  They play at Monmouth College at 9:00 a.m. Saturday morning and then travel to Knox College for a 2:00 p.m. match.  Sunday morning they play at Illinois College in Jacksonville at 9:00 a.m.
