Madison, WI -- The Beloit College Women's Tennis team closed out their 2014 season over the weekend at the Midwest Conference Doubles and Singles Tournaments. The touneys were held at the Nielsen Tennis Center.
In Singles competition on Sunday, Elizabeth Hitchcock had the best finish with Consolation Runner-up at #6 Singles. After falling in her opening match to Monmouth Hitchcock defeated Ripon before falling in the Consolation Final to Cornell.
Trina Capelli won her first match at #1 Singles before falling to St. Norbert in the quarterfinals; Alex Kurpiel had a bye into the quarterfinals where she fell to eventual champion Cornell at #2 Singles; Sammi Kinard dropped her opening match to Lawrence and then fell to Carroll at #3 Singles; Alisha Ankin won her opening match at #4 Singles against Knox before dropping her quarterfinal to Cornell; and Nyasha Nyamhondoro fell in her first match at #5 Singles to Monmouth and the fell to Illinois College.
In Doubles play on Saturday, the #2 duo of Kinard and Ankin finished as Consolation runner-up. They fell to Illinois College in their opener and they defeated Monmouth before dropping the Consolation Final to Lawrence.
The #1 team of Capelli and Kurpiel won their opener over Ripon before falling to Grinnell in the quarterfinals and the #3 team of Nyamhondoro and Hitchcock lost their first match to Monmouth and then fell to Illinois College.
