The Beloit College women’s soccer team fell to Clarke University 5-1 at home Friday evening.
Both teams posted offensive opportunities in the first half with the Pride tallying the 8-5 advantage on shots. Genesis Dade keyed the offense with a shot that went wide right in the 10th minute. Back-to-back saves by Kaitlyn Tomasin-Erickson kept Clarke off the board until the Pride notched a pair of goals in just over a minute’s time.
The Buccaneers did not fold and continued to create scoring opportunities. Their perseverance paid off as Courtney Ceurvorst found the back of the net in the 62nd minute to put Beloit on the board and make it 3-1.
Clarke responded with two more goals in the 67th and 75th minutes for the 5-1 final.
Tomasin-Erickson made six saves in the contest.
The Bucs will head to Lisle, Illinois to take on Benedictine University Sunday at noon.
