Bucs Battle Pios, Fall Short at Lewis and Clark

September 3, 2017

Portland, OR -- The Bucs traveled to Portland, Oregon to wrap up their season-opening trip out west on Sunday, with a match-up against the Lewis and Clark Pioneers.

The Buccaneer defense was much improved, and kept the scoring looks and sets for the Pioneers to a minimum. The only goal of the half came from Erin Lutz in the 37th minute.

After the half, the Pioneers re-organized and came out firing. Less than 10 minutes into the second frame, McKenzie Wingard scored off a cross by Courtney Schmidt to bring Lewis and Clark up 2-0. The one that put it away from the Bucs was at the 87:42 mark, as Anna Saucedo was able to break away from the Buccaneer defense, clearing near 80 yards for a goal.

For the Bucs, Dade, Miller, Erickson, Ceurvorst and Cunningham were able to register shots on the Pioneer defense, with Ceurvorst and Ericksons on frame.

In the net, Keegan-Lloyd and Nasatir joined forces again. Keegan-Lloyd registered 39:25 in net, allowing 1 goal and making 1 save. Olivia Nasatir was between the posts for 50:35, and allowed 2 goals, while making 2 saves.

The Bucs travel back to the friendly confines of Strong Stadium for their 2017 Home Opener, hosting the Carroll University Pioneers on September 6th at 4:30.
