October 16, 2016

Jacksonville, IL -- The Beloit College Women's Soccer team split a pair of Midwest Conference road matches over the weekend, defeating Monmouth College 4-3 on Saturday before falling at Illinois College 2-0 on Sunday.

In Saturday's game the Buccaneers came from behind and got what proved to be the game-winner from Candace Cunningham with just under 30 minutes left in regulation, assisted by Courtney Ceurvorst.

Genesis Dade opened the scoring for the Bucs just over six minutes in to the match before the Fighting Scots scored twice in a 17-second span to grab a 2-1 lead at the 10:45 mark.  Bre Partida evened it up at 2-all off Ceurvorst's corner kick at 28:44 and Hanna Metcalfe got the lead back for Beloit five minutes later.

Monmouth got the equalizer five minutes in to the second half setting up Cunningham's game-winner 10 minutes later.

Olivia Nasatir made five saves in net for the Bucs.  MC held a 14-10 edge in shots while the Buccaneers led in corners 5-3.

After a scoreless first half Sunday, IC struck twice in the first 12 minutes of the second half and held off the Buccaneers the rest of the way.

Nasatir again made five saves in goal.  The Bucs got off 20 shots to the Lady Blues 16 while IC had five corner kicks to none for Beloit.

Beloit looks to get back on track next Saturday at St. Norbert College in a 3:30 p.m. MWC match.
