Beloit, WI -- The Beloit College Women's Soccer team started both of their Midwest Conference home games with early goals. But the final results were the same in a pair of 3-1 losses to Grinnell College on Saturday and Knox College on Sunday at the Strong Complex Soccer Field.
Sunday, the teams were scoreless into an hour-plus lightning delay. The Buccaneers jumped on top 13 minutes after play resumed when Tegan Rock scored the first goal the unbeaten Prairie Fire had given up all season, assisted by Courtney Ceurvorst, at the 17:30 mark. That score stood up until KC tied it up at 57:47 of the second half. Knox took the lead at 72:50 and then added some insurance at 81:37 for the final.
Olivia Nasatir made nine saves in goal for Beloit, who were out-shot 17-3.
Saturday the script was much the same. Hanna Metcalfe, off an assist from Genesis Dade, 17 seconds after the opening whistle to put Beloit up early. Grinnell tied it up at 31:11 to send the game to halftime even. The Pioneers grabbed the lead at 50:29 and added an insurance tally at 78:29 to seal the win.
Nasatir made four saves in goal. GC nipped the Buccaneers 13-11 on shots, with Beloit holding a 4-3 edge on corner kicks.
Beloit looks to turn things around next Saturday when they play at Cornell College in an MWC game. Action begins at 3:30 p.m.
