Beloit, WI -- The Beloit College Women's Soccer team had a mixed bag of a weekend, topping Illinois College 2-1 on Saturday before falling 3-0 to Knox College on Sunday at the Strong Complex Soccer Field.
In Sunday's match, the Prairie Fire got all the scoring they'd need in a three-minute span of the opening half to move up 2-0. They added a final goal late in the game for the final score.
KC had 16 shots to the Buccaneers' five and held a 9-1 advantage on corner kicks. Haylee Irwin made seven saves, six in the first half, in net for Beloit.
Buccaneer seniors Enid Gongora and Megan McCabe were honored before the match in the final weekend home contest for the Bucs.
Back on Saturday Candace Cunningham scored at the 55:20 mark and the Buccaneers held on for the 2-1 win. Sarah Farr had given Beloit the lead just under three minutes into the game before IC tied it at 32:08.
The Lady Blues had a slight 13-11 advantage in shots while Beloit had five corners to Illinois College's four. Irwin made six saves in goal for the Bucs.
Beloit is now off until they travel to Cornell College on Saturday for a 12 noon MWC contest.
