Buccaneer Women Drop Pair on Road to Open MWC Play

September 20, 2015

Ripon, WI -- The Beloit College Women's Soccer team never quit battling but fell at Ripon College 4-2 on Sunday after a 6-1 loss at St. Norbert College Saturday to open Midwest Conference play.

Sunday, the Red Hawks scored three times in the opening half to jump out front.  The Bucs finally got it going at 63:10 of the second half on an own goal and then pulled to within one score at 79:08 on a score by Lili Hagg.  But that was as close as they could get with RC adding some insurance with four minutes left in regulation for the final score.

Ripon out-shot the Buccaneers 17-12 and had a 12-1 advantage in corner kicks.  Haylee Irwin made five saves in net.

Saturday, SNC scored three times in each half, with four coming from the one of the leading scorers in NCAA Division III history.  Beloit got their lone goal five minutes into the second half when Genesis Dade beat a defender on the far post, assisted by Tegan Rock.

The Green Knights owned a 24-5 advantage in shots and had eight corners to the Bucs' one.  Irwin made 10 saves in net.

The Buccaneers are idle until Saturday when they play at Monmouth College.  Action begins at 1:00 p.m.
