Sheboygan, WI -- The Beloit College Women's Soccer team started fast and then held strong in a 4-2 win at Lakeland College on Saturday.
All the scoring came in the opening 45 minutes. Jordyn Murch, assisted by Courtney Ceurvost, put the Bucs on top eight minutes into the match but the Muskies answered 16 seconds later to tie it up. Ceurvost regained the lead for Beloit at the 15:22 mark, assisted by Genesis Dade, but just over two minutes late LC again tied it up.
Dade took matters into her own hands at that point, scoring the go-ahead goal at 39:36 and adding an insurance tally, assisted by Mallory Gribble, at 43:40 to close out the scoring. The Buccaneers then ratcheted up the defense in the second half for their second straight victory.
Beloit won the shots battle 21-10, including a 13-4 advantage in the second half. The Bucs had three corner kicks to Lakeland's one. Haylee Irwin recorded four saves in the final 74-plus minutes for the win in net.
The Bucs have the week off before heading into Midwest Conference play next Saturday, traveling to St. Norbert College for a 1:00 p.m. match.
