Beloit, WI -- The Beloit College Women's Soccer team couldn't match nationally-ranked Lake Forest College on a rainy, cool Wednesday at the Strong Complex Soccer Field, falling 6-0.
The undefeated Foresters are ranked 17th in the most recent D3Soccer.com national poll.
The Bucs held tough over the first half of the opening 45 minutes, spoiling several scoring chances with good defense while Lake Forest misfired on the shots they did get off. That all changed 26 minutes in when the Foresters got their first score.
It stayed 1-0 for the next ten-plus minutes until Lake Forest scored twice in a 24-second span. They added a fourth goal just over a minute before halftime to lead 4-0 at the break.
The Foresters increased their lead to 5-0 a minute-plus into the second half and then closed out the scoring at the 59:13 mark.
Alex Spirov faced 29 shots and made nine saves in 65 minutes of play in net. Carmen Becerra-Flores finished the last 24 minutes, making three saves.
Beloit hits the road this weekend for a pair of Midwest Conference games, playing at Illinois College in Jacksonville, Illinois, on Saturday at 1:30 p.m. and at Knox College in Galesburg, Illinois, on Sunday at the same time.
