The Beloit College women’s lacrosse team fell to Illinois Tech 18-6 Tuesday night in the team’s final game of the season.
The Buccaneers jumped out to a quick lead as Kieran Rodning found the back of the net just 11 seconds into the game for her 11th goal of the season. IIT came back to score the next two goals before Nicole Dolcimascolo registered the equalizer with her 31st score of the season at 24:15.
The Scarlet Hawks would regain the lead at 21:53 but controversial calls over the next 10 minutes changed the dynamic of the game. The Bucs were whistled for four yellow cards, two on Dolcimascolo and two on Morgan Nicholson taking them out of the game.
As Beloit’s top two scorers were sidelined, the Bucs refused to give up. Rodning struck again before the end of the half and one more time on a free position shot in the second half. Fiona Milchman also got on the board in the second half as the Bucs continued to fight hard despite the score.
The Bucs wrap up the season with a 3-14 record.
