Chicago, IL -- The Beloit College Women's Lacrosse team closed out their 2017 season Saturday in a 13-6 loss at Illinois Institute of Technology.
IIT scored the first three goals of the game and never looked back. Nicole Dolcimascolo (free position) stopped the run before the teams traded goals to close the opening half. Fiona Milchman got the second Buccaneer goal at 20:06 and Arisbeth Sanchez (free position) tallied at 15:04 as Beloit trailed 6-3 at the break.
The Scarlet Hawks scored the first goal of the second half before Hannah Drexler scored with the man-advantage. But Illinois Tech scored three straight to move up 10-4 before Dolcimascolo hit the back of the net on the man-advantage to draw the Bucs within 10-5 with 23-plus minutes left. IIT scored back-to-back to make it a 12-5 game before Dolcimascolo closed out the Buccaneer scoring at 13:05 and the Scarlet Hawks scored one final goal with under five minutes remaining.
Marie Bonine made 12 saves in net and had a team-high seven ground balls. Casey Ryan had three caused turnovers and Drexler four draw controls.
Bonine, Drexler, Brenne Gregory, Emma Schroer, Sydney De Tomaso and Marci McClenon all played their final game for the Bucs.
