Beloit, WI -- The Beloit College Women's Lacrosse team took on two-time defending Midwest Women's Lacrosse Champion Concordia University Wisconsin in their final home game of the season and came up on the short end of a 19-6 loss at Strong Stadium Wednesday.
The Falcons, undefeated in league play, scored the first four goals of the game and seven of the first eight and never looked back. Nicole Dolcimascolo (Arisbeth Sanchez) got Beloit on the board in the middle of the run but that was their only score until Hannah Drexler (free position) scored the first of her four goals with the man advantage midway through the opening half. Drexler (Fiona Milchman) talled again two-plus minutes later followed by Dolcimascolo's (FP) second goal at 11:33 to pull the Bucs within 6-4. Concordia went on a four-goal run after Dolcimascolo's goal to make it 10-4 before Drexler stopped the run with back-to-back scores, the second on a free position shot. CUW scored one last goal with 14 seconds left in the half, making it 11-6 at the break.
Concordia then shut the Buccaneers down in the second 30 minutes while scoring eight times for the final score.
Marie Bonine made 16 saves in goal and tied Dolcimascolo with a team-best four ground balls. Drexler added four draw controls.
Beloit now hits the road for three games to close out the regular season, beginning next Wednesday night at Benedictine University in a 7:00 p.m. MWLC game.
