Bucs Fall Just Short in Final Home Game of Season

April 8, 2017

Beloit, WI -- The Beloit College Women's Lacrosse team tried but came up just short on Saturday afternoon at Strong Stadium, dropping a 10-9 Senior Day match to Augsburg College.

Beloit honored its six seniors prior to the start of the game.  Brenne Gregory, Marie Bonine, Hannah Drexler, Emma Schroer, Sydney De Tomaso and Marci McClenon all played their final game at Strong.

The Bucs started fast, with Fiona Milchman, Tate Mitchell, Drexler (Free Position), and Mitchell scoring the first four goals of the game.  After the Auggies scored twice to cut their deficit in half Mitchell scored her third goal of the game.  Augsburg scored at 4:39 but Nicole Dolcimascolo tallied 11 seconds later.  AC then went on a five-goal run that spanned halftime and gave the Auggies an 8-6 lead with 15:21 left.

Drexler ended the run at 13:42 to pull the Buccaneers within 8-7 and then Dolcimascolo tied it up with 12:12 left in the contest.  Augsburg then scored what proved to be the game-winning goal with 5:21 left on a Free Position shot and added an insurance score at 4:15.  Milchman (Dolcimascolo) pulled the Bucs within 10-9 with 3:00 remaining but they couldn't score the equalizer.

Bonine made seven saves in goal and had six ground balls.  Drexler had four draw controls.

Beloit hosts Concordia University Wisconsin on Wednesday at 4:30 p.m. in another key MWLC game.
