Lisle, IL -- The Beloit College Women's Lacrosse team finished up a busy week Saturday with a 14-7 Midwest Women's Lacrosse Conference loss at Benedictine University.
Beginning last Saturday, March 5, with a home win over Concordia University Chicago, the Buccaneers played five games in eight days.
Libby Storrick got the Bucs rolling Saturday with the first goal of the game five minutes in before the Eagles scored back-to-back to take the lead. Hannah Drexler tied it up at 2-all before another two-goal run by BU made it 4-2. Sam Schonberger pulled Beloit closer with a free position score with 4:25 left in the half. After a Benedictine goal, Drexler scored her second of the half at 3:43 to make it a 5-4 game. But the Eagles scored one more time to take a 6-4 lead into halftime.
BenU opened the second half with three straight goals to move up by five before Casey Ryan stopped the run on a free position score at 18:51. The teams traded the next four goals, with Tate Mitchell scoring at 12:15 and Drexler at 4:37, before Benedictine closed the game with another three-goal run to close out the scoring.
Marie Bonine made 15 saves in goal and had a team-high eight ground balls. Schonberger and Arisbeth Sanchez each had two caused turnovers.
Beloit has a few days off before traveling to Carthage College on Wednesday for a 4:00 p.m. game.
