Beloit, WI – The Beloit College Women’s Lacrosse team gets their 2016 season underway Sunday with a pair of games in St. Paul, Minnesota, as Mallory Bahr makes her debut as a collegiate head coach.
The Bucs will play at Augsburg College at 12:00 noon before taking on Hamline University, at the Augsburg field, at 3:00 p.m.
Under Bahr, Beloit returns the top three scorers from the 2015 team that finished 9-8-0 overall, 5-2-0 in the Midwest Women’s Lacrosse Conference, and grabbed a spot for the first time in the MWLC Tournament.
Seniors and 2015 All-MWLC First-Teamers Michelle Dillon (58 goals, 13 assists, 71 points) and Libby Storrick (38-25-63) along with junior and All-MWLC Second Teamer Hannah Drexler (34-15-49) return to lead the Buc’s attack.
On defense, goalkeeper and MWLC Defensive Player of the Year junior Marie Bonine (8.43 goals-against-average, 115 saves) returns for another year.
Also back from the 2015 season are senior defender Vanessa Pena, junior attacker Marci McClenon, junior goalkeeper Celeste Jenkins, sophomore midfielder Casey Ryan, sophomore attacker Arisbeth Sanchez and sophomore defender Charlotte Mayeda.
After Sunday the Bucs have some time off before their home and MWLC-opener against Concordia University Chicago on Saturday, March 5, at 1:00 p.m. at Strong Stadium. They then head South for a three-game Spring trip, playing in Tennessee and Alabama.
