Minneapolis, MN -- The Beloit College Women's Lacrosse team closed out their regular season with a 17-7 non-conference loss at Augsburg College on Sunday.
The opening half made all the difference as the Auggies ran out to a 13-3 lead by halftime and never looked back. Augsburg broke away from a 5-3 lead at the 18:25 mark with eight unanswered goals to close the half. Hannah Drexler had all three Beloit goals in the first half, the first from the free position, the second assisted by Casey Ryan and the third unassisted.
Celeste Jenkins broke the AC run less than a minute into the second half as the Buccaneers played even the final 30 minutes. After Jenkins' goal Michelle Dillon scored the last three for Beloit, the first assisted by Drexler and the third by Marie Bonine.
Bonine had 10 saves in net for the Buccaneers, also recording team highs with four ground balls and five caused turnovers. Marci McClenon had four draw controls.
The Bucs now get ready for their Midwest Women's Lacrosse Conference Tournament semifinal against Aurora University on Friday at Concordia University in Mequon. Action begins at 4:00 p.m.
